The Telescope Department at OHB Italia is dedicated to the design, development, integration, and deployment of remotely operated optical telescopes supporting international Space Safety initiatives, including Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) and Near-Earth Object (NEO) detection. Our Flyeye Telescope, renowned for its wide field of view and high automation, plays a vital role in planetary defense by continuously scanning the sky for hazardous space objects.

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Field Deployment & Integration Manager to coordinate the international installation of Flyeye telescopes—a next-generation, ground-based optical sensor system for space debris tracking.
This role requires excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage technical teams across diverse environments. While prior experience with Flyeye systems is not required, a strong technical background and a proactive, hands-on approach are essential to mastering the system over time.
You will be responsible for orchestrating on-site activities, ensuring successful deployment, integration, and testing of the systems, while keeping teams motivated and operations on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage on-site deployment of Flyeye telescopes worldwide.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams during installation and integration phases.
- Act as the operational interface between internal engineering teams, site personnel, local authorities, and customers.
- Supervise system-level functional tests and support commissioning activities.
- Ensure adherence to schedule, quality standards, safety procedures, and budget.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the field, escalating when necessary.
- Support logistics, customs, and local infrastructure assessments in preparation for deployments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of installation procedures and lessons learned.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or similar).
- Proven experience in AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test), field engineering, mission operations, or similar technical project environments.
- Excellent organizational and team leadership capabilities.
- Strong problem-solving attitude and adaptability in dynamic field conditions.
- Fluent in English; other languages (especially Italian, French, Spanish) are a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently and manage international missions.
Nice to Have
- Experience with optical systems, telescopes, radar, satellite ground segments, or tracking sensors.
- Familiarity with industrial safety, handling of sensitive equipment, and cleanroom procedures.
- Background in the space sector, scientific instrumentation, or large infrastructure projects.
