The #MWI instrument, featuring a large rotating component…

🔧 The #MWI instrument, featuring a large rotating component, needs to be perfectly balanced to meet extremely strict standards: this ensures an operational life of over 7 years in orbit and helps reduce microvibrations on the #MetopSG platform.

📅 Last week at #ECSSMET2024, held at ESA-ESTEC, Alessandro Moroni presented two papers on these crucial topics. The presentations showcased OHB Italia’s expertise and successful experience in balancing and managing microvibrations during test campaigns on the STM, EM, and PFM models of the MWI instrument. The tests were conducted at the Airbus EVT facility in Toulouse, under #ESA supervision.

đź“š The papers describe key aspects such as applicable requirements, the development of custom dedicated tools, the selection of testing facilities and final results. They also share valuable insights and lessons learned, contributing to knowledge-sharing within the space community.

Well done Alessandro!
