The #PRISMA Satellite is surprising us every time thanks to its hyperspectral view.
The image below of the Richat structure, also known as the EYE OF SAHARA or Guelb El Richat, was taken on 10th May 2021 by the PRISMA satellite, developed by #OHBItalia for #ASI – Agenzia Spaziale Italiana.
The peculiar structure stretches across a 40 kilometer-wide region of the desert in the northwestern Mauritania. Geologists believe that the Eye’s formation began when the supercontinent Pangaea started to pull apart and corresponds to concentric architectures created by the erosion of a volcanic dome.
