Why is the universe accelerating so much its expansion?
What kind of phenomenon is behind this expansionary rush?
What are the dark matter and the dark energy composed of?
What is changing the shape of billions of galaxies outside the Milky Way?
All these questions can be answered, once in orbit, by the EUCLID satellite-telescope, whose #integration has just been completed.
#OHBItalia gave a strong contribution to this #ESA medium-class astronomy and astrophysics #spacemission, by designing and manufacturing the electronic units of the two main instruments that represent the “BRAIN” of the system, the #VIS (visual imager, a visible-wavelength camera) and the #NISP (near-infrared spectrometer and photometer to scan the deep space through a 1.2m diameter telescope) and moreover the #grismwheel assembly of the NISP instrument.
EUCLID will photograph galaxies billions of light years far and it will most likely represent a keystone in modern cosmology.
