Now IXPE is 547 Km above the Earth. After spending several weeks for deploying its scientific instruments and testing its equipment, the telescope will begin its two-year mission. During this period IXPE will observe more than 100 cosmic targets, including black holes, supernovas and exotic stars, focusing on the direction of the wavelike movement of the X-ray particles, that will reveal the orientation of incoming electric and magnetic fields.
X-ray polarimetry will open deep secrets of the universe until now unlocked: a really new way of looking at the sky.
