Advancing RAMSES: OHB Italia and HPS Sign MGA Agreement

Today during the SmallSat Conference in Amsterdam, OHB Italia, acting as Prime Contractor for the RAMSES mission signed, in agreement with ESA, a contract with HPS GmbH, based in Munich, Germany, for the procurement of the RAMSES Medium Gain Antenna (MGA).

The Medium Gain Antenna is a key subsystem within the RAMSES spacecraft communication architecture. It will support the transmission of mission data and imagery back to Earth, contributing to the reliability of communications during asteroid proximity operations and to the overall scientific return of the mission.

Roberto Aceti, CEO of OHB Italia, commented:
“This contract further consolidates the cooperation between OHB Italia and HPS GmbH on advanced space systems. The Medium Gain Antenna is an important element of the RAMSES mission communication chain, and its development reflects the value of specialized European industrial capabilities in support of complex exploration missions.”

Ernst K. Pfeiffer, CEO of HPS GmbH, commented:
“It’s fantastic to be part of this exceptional mission, and it’s an honor that our hardware will be transmitting such fascinating data back to Earth. Images of the asteroid, perhaps even with Earth in the background, will be circulating around the world. It’s great that Germany confirmed its participation in this mission at ESA-CM25 last November; now SMEs can also contribute their high-tech equipment to the programme. With this contract, I am also delighted to further expand our cooperation with OHB Italia and with Roberto in this way.”
