The integration of the Scan Mechanism for the Microwave Imager (hashtag#MWI) marks another important milestone in the development of one of the key instruments of the hashtag#MetOp Second Generation (MetOp-SG) mission. It is a joint programm of hashtag#ESA and hashtag#Eumetsat (EPS).
This highly precise hashtag#mechanism enables the instrument to perform its continuous cross-track hashtag#scanning of the Earth, a fundamental capability to collect microwave observations used for weather forecasting and climate monitoring.
The successful hashtag#integration represents the result of the coordinated work of multidisciplinary teams, combining mechanical engineering, electronics and system integration expertise to ensure the reliability and stability required for long-term operations in orbit.
Once in space, the MWI instrument will provide critical data to improve atmospheric and surface measurements, supporting the most accurate meteorological models ever had before and contributing to a deeper understanding of our Planet’s climate system.
